Clarence Gardens - Final Design and Workshop Report

Update November 2022 - Planting of the new trees, shrubs and native hedging will commence 14th November 2022.  Weather permitting it will be completed by the end of November.  Thank you once again for your patience while we complete these final works in Clarence Gardens.

Following on from the workshop held on 29th September 2021 Groundwork London have updated designs for the space based on feedback received.

The event was attended by approximately 60 people, mainly local residents, including parents with children and dog walkers. The plans were also shared here, on Euston Engagement Commonplace place site, where a further 8 responses were received. Overall residents spoken to approved of the design and features. Those in attendance commented positively on improved planting and creating a new social space for residents to enjoy. Some stressed that Clarence Gardens is a valued space for local people and a balance needs to be struck between developing it to maximise use for health benefits. Ensuring improvements do not adversely affect residents and any potential anti social behaviour issues need to be carefully considered. We are very pleased to let you know that the updated designs for Clarence Gardens are ready to view.

The main proposed improvements include:

• New entrances into the green space

• New surfaced pathway within the site

• Chess tables & chairs

• Benches with backrests and arms

• Cycle Parking

• Dog Park with new equipment

• Mixed native hedgerows

• New planting throughout

• New tree planting

• New bin store
